Are you like many Americans who want to lose weight and build rock solid abs? I am sure that everyone wants a six pack but for some it seems like just a dream. The concept may sound simple, but putting it into action can be quite challenging and that is where some go astray.
Don’t spend another minute thinking that it is out of reach. One of the biggest reasons why you could fail is due to burnout or motivation. Whatever you do, don’t stop your workout routine even if you feel like it is taking too long to get results. If you know that you are one who need motivation don’t try to do it alone. Hire a trainer to help you.
Building Those Six Pack Abs
To build a six pack abs there are two things you need to do: lose fat and build muscle. You can accomplish this by eating the right foods and exercising. If you don’t lose weight you won’t be able to see your six pack until you lose that layer of fat over them.
If you are serious about building great abs you will need to workout four different areas of your stomach.
- Truck Flexion (upper abs)
- Hip Flexion (lower abs)
- Rotation (obliques)
- Lateral Flexion (obliques)
To do this you will need to use a combination of the following workouts.
Hip Flexion Exercises:
Lying Hip Raise
Incline Hip Raise
Hanging Hip Raise
Trunk Flexion Exercises:
Swiss Ball Crunch
Weighted Swiss Ball Crunches
Weighted Cable Crunches
Rotation Exercises:
Russian Twist
Weighted Russian Twist
Weighted Cable Crossover
Lateral Flexion Exercises:
Lateral Flexion on back extension machine
Lateral Flexion with medicine ball over head
Lateral Flexion with medicine ball and twist
