If you were to guess the most geekiest city in the US it’s likely that San Jose, California — home of Silicon Valley — would be at the top of your list. The second city to be included on the list was somewhat of a surprise to me, given the stereotypically counter-culture of Boulder, Colorado. I won’t go over the full list but rather let you see for yourself. And if you’re interested, I left my original 2011 list at the bottom of this post.

2011 Article
A recent Yahoo! News article has proclaimed the Geekiest Cities in America. The article based their findings off the National Science Foundation’s report that lists jobs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics throughout the United States.
Here is the countdown starting with America’s geekiest city.
- Silicon Valley, San Jose, California: 18.2 % of jobs are in technology or science.
- Boulder, Colorado: 17.4% of employment involved in technology or science.
- Framingham, Massachusetts: 16.6% of population works in science and math.
- Huntsville, Alaska: 16.2% are employed in science and math occupations.
